It
is with the greatest pride that I, as Captain, welcome
all Hoylake Golf Club members to the 2014 season at our
wonderful club.
I
would like to take this opportunity to thank Geoff Hicks
for nominating me and for the rest of the Committee for
accepting that nomination and for their help, support
and guidance during my year as Vice-Captain.
I would also ask that they continue their hard
work and commitment for the smooth running of the club.
I
would also like to thank the President, past Presidents,
past Captains and members of the club for their best
wishes, support and encouragement.
The Captain’s Drive-In will take place on 22nd
March and I look forward to welcoming as many of you as
possible. There
will be two drive-ins, one at 6.40am for the early birds
and one a little later at 9.40am for the guys who like a
lie in. Drinks and
snacks will be available on the first tee before you tee
off.
On
a Saturday we have a number of pre-booked tee times for
4-balls. If you
are allocated one of these times and for any reason
cannot make it, then please cross out your name.
This will allow other members without a fixed
time to slot in.
Singles
and Pairs knock-out matches will take place during the
season – if you wish to enter please put your name on
the list on the notice board.
Wirral
League matches take place on Wednesday evenings during
the season. These
are matches against the other five clubs on the Wirral,
on a home and away basis. Food is provided following the
match. If
you are interested in taking part, then please add your
name to the list in the locker room or contact Tom
Coleman or myself.
Please
read the notice boards in the locker room as these
provide very important information and also please check
the Club website.
As
in previous years Hoylake Golf Club provides a thriving
Seniors section for the Over 60s, holding their
competitions on Thursday mornings.
They are always happy to welcome new members.
If you are interested in joining please contact
Dave Denton or myself.
The
Club Day Out this year will be held on Friday, 27th June
at Antrobus Golf Club. This
appears to be an excellent venue and a notice will be
posted on the notice board nearer the date.
The
Captain’s Day Charity Medal will be held on Saturday,
21st June, the nominated charity will be confirmed in
the near future.
Please
note that the course will be closed between 12th and
25th July for the Open Golf Championship at Royal
Liverpool.
The
President’s Day Charity Medal will be held on
Saturday, 2nd August with Finals Day and the Ryder Cup
being held over the weekend of 27/28th September.
The
Annual Dinner and Golf will be held at the Royal
Liverpool Golf Club on Friday, 7th November.
On
behalf of the Club and the Committee, I would like to
thank Dave Lloyd for his contribution as Captain 2013.
Finally
I would like to give you my assurance that I will work
hard and will always be willing to listen.
Wishing you all good health, good weather, good
golf and a very enjoyable and successful year.
Best
Wishes
Steve Bagley
